Abstract: Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) binds androgens and estrogens with high affinity, and regulates the distribution of these sex steroids in the blood and other biological fluids. Liver is the primary site of SHBG production, but the human SHBG transcription unit responsible for this is also expressed in proximal convoluted tubule (PCT) epithelial cells in a transgenic mouse model. Unlike hepatocytes which actively secrete SHBG and retain little immunoreactive SHBG within their cytoplasm, an incompletely glycosylated SHBG isoform has been found to accumulate inside PCT cells. These cells are androgen target cells, and the presence of SHBG within them accentuates androgen-dependent regulation of gene expression mediated by the androgen receptor (AR).

Abstract: The present study was conducted to investigate the hypothesis that membrane phosphoinositide breakdown may participate in the actions of luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) on hormone production in the rat ovary. In granulosa cells prelabeled with [³H]-arachidonic acid or [³H]-inositol, treatment with LHRH increased the accumulation of radiolabeled inositol lipids, diacylglycerol and free arachidonic acid, but luteinizing hormone (LH) or cholera toxin did not exert the same effect. Activation of protein kinase C by the phorbol ester, 12-0-tetradecanoyl phorbol-13-acetate (TPA) had a stimulatory action on membrane phosphoinositide breakdown.

Abstract: Due to the ?flare effect? associated with the flare protocol, variation in the degree of follicular maturation during stimulation may result in differences in follicle response as compared to the luteal protocol which is based on maximal pituitary suppression and synchronization of follicular maturation. In this study, besides other methods, Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH), a novel marker for ovarian reserve, was used as a tool to evaluate the ovarian responsiveness to stimulation.

Abstract: The I2I is a how-to guide for driving change using KT activities. It is built around the concept of innovation: products, actions, services or relationships that have the potential to enhance health outcomes. The guide illustrates how to move from innovation to implementation in a thoughtful manner to achieve the desired outcomes of a project or initiative. The I2I is not meant to replace KT frameworks such as the PARiHS framework, the Knowledge Exchange Model or the Knowledge-to-Action process, but rather to facilitate an increase in their application through the development of a practical, action-oriented guide. The I2I is a practical, step-by-step guide to achieving successful KT. It highlights the importance of bringing a wide range of participants to the table, respecting both diversity and uniqueness, where knowledge is jointly identified, created or applied. It also stresses the importance of incorporating various knowledge perspectives.
